Once the muscle memory builds up, you can happily play any FPS with it likely better than the DS4. See if you land on something that you could practice with for a while. In my opinion, the wireless 360 controller is the best overall option for PC gaming (that includes the Link). The link emulates the ps4 input to a 360 input so games see the ps4 controller as a 360 controller. So, my suggestion is to play more FPS games and try more community configs and see how they get the controller to do what they are doing in the deep menus. Yea the ps4 controller works perfectly with 99 of games. The paddles could be used to help remove the need for your thumbs on the 4 top buttons further freeing you up to mode-shift from the pads as you need to. Like I mentioned above, the gyro controls combined with mode shifting could be easily trained to be done ad hoc to augment your stick aiming for precision. There are also some folks with CS:GO Steam Controller customization videos on YouTube that go over the finer details of how to tweak it. I played with some community profiles in some of the games out there. I don't think you can hit full keyboard and mouse efficiency with the Steam Controller, but you can get extremely close with practice and controller customization.
